Fremont Speedway Website Review
The Fremont Speedway website at http://fremontohspeedway.com is the subject of this ARA racetrack website review. 2010 is the fifty-ninth (59th!) season of racing at Fremont Speedway, a one-third (1/3) mile dirt oval in Fremont, Ohio.
At the time of the review on May 8, 2010, the website contained an impressive 4315 pages of content! The colorful, photo-illustrated front page highlights the various classes racing at Fremont, including its 410 and 305 Sprints, the FAST Fremont-Attica Sprint Title series, the dirt trucks, Emods, and All-Star Sprint Cars.
Links are provided to News & Results, Points, Contacts, Track Info, 2010 Schedule, Photos, Sponsors, Links, Purse, Aerial View, Hotels, and Rules. The aerial view is comprehensive and gives a good sense of the track configuration and environs. The photo section covers from 2001 onward with photos from what must be nearly every event!
The site is strong on historical content, a real plus in our view! The News & Results section provides race stories, news and race results from 2001 onward. Point standings are provided from 2002 onward. A list of champions for each division is provided, beginning with the 1951 champion, the famed Leo Caldwell. Other champions have included Jim McCune, Darl Harrison, USAC standout Rollie Beale, Mark Keegan, Byron Reed, and 2009 champ Brock Mayes. An All-Time Feature Win List through 2009 shows Art Ball leading with 70 victories as 372 drivers have won features! Every All-Star Sprint Car series feature winner at Fremont is listed in chronological order. An extensive Fremont Hall of Fame section honors the members. Two excellent historic Fremont photo collections, the Frank Jenssen Collection and the Dottie Szakovits-Shilling Collection, are included.
The Fremont website does a great job of presenting its current racing action in a user-friendly and colorful format while honoring its past with extensive documentation and dramatic photography!
