Friendship Motor Speedway Website Review

The subject of this ARA racetrack website review is the website for the Friendship Motor Speedway in Elkin, North Carolina.  The website review was conducted Sunday, May 2, 2010.

Friendship Motor Speedway is a 0.400 (4/10) mile dirt oval; the venue began as a dirt track, was later paved, and was returned to dirt in 2008.  The website covers the track’s current dirt era but does not address the track’s history.  The track features Crate Late Model, Limited Sportsman, Four Cylinder, Renegade V8, and U-Car racing.

The website is a simple yet user-friendly design and a good example of packing a substantial amount of information into a relatively small (281 pages) site.  The News, Results and Points information is easy to locate and read.  The Results and Points tables are well-formatted and information for all 2008 and 2009 races is available including race reports.

For photography, the website relies on linkage with the Under the Lights Photography website and its extensive collection of photos from the track.

The site would benefit from some front-page photography of the track and the competitors to “set the scene.”
