ACT Tour Website Review

The subject of this Auto Racing Analysis sanction/series website review is the http://www.acttour.com website for the American-Canadian Tour’s championship stock car racing events.

The site is emblazoned with the ACT logo and colorful photography and features a page-one slide show.  Sections include Thunder Road, Schedules, Rosters, Results, Standings, Statistics, Photos, Classifieds, News Search, and Links.  Sponsor logos are prominently displayed with links to their websites.  Contact information is unusually complete, for in addition to phone, fax and mailing address the e-mail addresses for six officials are provided.

An extensive collection of News reports appear in the News section and the section is searchable via News Search.

The Results section includes race result reports from 2006 through the present.  Each results report contains comprehensive information including finish, start, driver, hometown, team, car, laps run, purse and tech report status (running or retirement cause), and lap leaders.

The Statistics section is excellent, providing a good history of the series, including Champions and Top Ten point finishers and Tour Racewinners 1992-2009.  A useful addition would be a chronological listing of race winners for each year listing the date, track, and racewinner.

The Photos section includes three pages of photo galleries for events held in the past year.

The site would benefit from a front page section highlighting the venues and racecars utililized in the series.

The ACT Tour site is a well-done and informative effort exemplifying the best of the current “state of the art” in website design.
