1959 Pontiac Bonneville Promo Review

The subject of this ARA Promo Model review is the 1959 Pontiac Bonneville two-door hardtop.  This was a retail hobby shop purchase and features a metal base and a friction flywheel.  The exterior color combination features a white roof over a maroon body with a matching maroon interior with gold seat inserts.  The taillights are separate red plastic lenses.  The build quality on the model was good and it suffered no warpage.  Unfortunately, the original front grille assembly split.  This has been remedied by replacing it with a new grille assembly sold by Modelhaus  ARA has utilized Modelhaus parts to perform minor to major repairs on about fifty promos and has been well pleased with the results!  The model is 8.5 inches in length, 3.25 inches wide and about two inches in height.

The 1959 Pontiac was the “first of the Wide Tracks” denoting an increase of the front and rear tracks by about five inches.  The very thin-pillared hardtop design the model depicts was new to Pontiac for 1959, as was the “split grille” design that became a major styling feature for Pontiac.
